This intense wine made with grapes from organic farmed red grapes, it is a bland of 95% Tinta de Toro and 5% Grenache from vines whose average age is 45 years old. After fermentation the wine is aged for 14 months in both first and second fill French oak barrels. The nose on this wine is intense yet aromatic with ripe black fruits and supple integration of oak giving it the hall make richness that the Gil Luna family winery is known for. There is a depth and concentration on the pallet that makes this full bodied wines intensity of flavour carry through to a long finish. This wine for consumption today and storage at least 15 years.
Bodegas Gil Luna is a young and energetic family run winery in the heart of the hot and dry Toro region in central Spain. Their vineyards are close to the river Duero that helps modurater the staging temperatures that can be reached in the summer. Their main focus is on the Tinta de Toro grape (known as Tempranillo in the rest of Spain) with some of their vines being over 45 years old, this helps with the concentration of the juice with in the grapes.
