A mild growing season led to the maison declaring this shiraz one of the highest-quality vintages on record. Cape Mentelle Shiraz 2017 is juicy and complex, with structured tannins.
Taking inspiration from the most traditional of winemaking techniques, the maison has created a wine that perfectly captures the energy and classic beauty of the Margaret River region.
Shiraz (95%) and small amounts of grenache (3%) and viognier (2%) were used to craft this wine. Wild yeasts with co-ferment viognier added lift and deep colour, while the grenache enhances juiciness and mid-palate spice notes. Fermentation maceration takes place over 80 days, followed by a further malolactic fermentation in French (80%) and American (20%) oak.
