A top flight, medal winning wine from the newly fashionable Barbera grape. The exciting flavours of this grape are now being realised by producers of the quality of Vite Colte who are now making interesting and complex wines from this variety.
Barbera is fast becoming one of the more fashionable grape varieties as its qualities are being realised. This wine is from three communes famed for their Barbera; Nizza Monferrato, Agliano Terme and Clamandrana; all of which are in the Asti province. The grapes are from a number of very small vineyards, which gives the wine greater complexity, and the yields have been reduced to ensure a greater concentration of flavour. Vite Colte is based in the village of Barolo and regularly makes award winning wines. This wine (literally “The Moon and the Bonfire”) is named after the novel by Cesare Pavese, a Piemonte novelist of the 1940s.
